First of all, would you please indicate: where did you obtain the transfer speeds data from?
Please note that if such data was obtained from an internet speed test, the information will not necessarily reflect the local wireless network performance but mostly the internet connections speed and therefore, it may depend on your connection with your internet service provider or other conditions.
Secondly, in order to improve your local wireless connection you may update the wireless router firmware, use AES encryption with WPA2 (instead of TKIP options), and use the less crowded non-overlapping channel in your network environment. Additionally, you may also connect at 5GHz (with channel bonding) if the router supports it, instead of 2.4GHz.
