Some other things to note.
The initial driver that installed from my base windows 8.1 installation worked. However my internet was only running about 0.3mbps on my alienware and about 35mbps on every other device in the house. The latest driver fixed my speed issue but caused the drop out problems mentioned here in the thread. This Old driver seems to have done the trick 
Hopefully Joe can provide a link to download it until a fixed driver is released at a later date.
